Eko Bus!

It is Sunday evening and am thinking of work already! Why is the weekend so short?I hate road traffic on any day, traffic gives me that nauseous feeling:  the exhaust fumes from the buses and the dust! On one of those typical work days, I boarded a bus at Obalende (not the bus in motion and the conductor SHOUTING for passengers) and on getting to my bus stop, I indicated the usual “owa o!” to alight. Alas, the conductor and the driver were shouting at me, “madam, oya, oya come down, you don reach your bus stop! (as thou I haven’t said that before, rolling my eyes). At that point, I noticed my neatly combed and straightened hair is now singing praises and not to forget the sweating episode b’cos of the sardine-in-a-tin like arrangement.
I tried imagining what it would be like boarding a bus and the conductor smiles at you and says “Good morning Madam, hope you enjoy your ride”. Huh! Are you kidding me?, in eko, that will be the day. I will so look forward to seeing that conductor every day!Instead it will be “abeg hold your change o! I no go reach last bus stop o” as if it is a crime dropping you at the last bus-stop.

To add to the whole craze, parts of the bus has fallen apart, even the bus itself is looking glued together! No seatbelt (for where!) and windows, the foams that are meant to be part of the chairs have gone AWOL, the seats have lost balance (it was that baaeed). It was so terrible that even when a passenger (that’s holding the somewhat balance) gets up, the rest of us can fall. As I said, we were all packed like sardines. Trust me that was my last option. I was feeling sticky and irritated. The person beside me was asleep and snoring, as if it was a do or die affair! I looked at the driver’s seat and no seatbelt (a loose rope was mimicking it), as if that will protect him from anything, mchewww!
I am 15 minuteslate already! Buses like this should not be out on the road anymore (hmmnn.. I dey talk as if say I dey london) You are supposed to be comfortable not miserable. (plenty grammar) Well, I thank God for safe journey! Just then, I see a lady alighting from a private RIDE (if you see the machine ehn!) and I envision myself being dropped of like that everyday . Hmmm! back to the present, as I trod towards the estate gate am imagining better roads, buses fit for the road, drivers n conductors having better interpersonal relations, I wonder how the oyinbos are accomplishing unimaginable to conceivable feats (I hope not when am a grandma) Eko o ni baje!
eventually, I arrive at the office and a colleague of mine is pointing at the back of my well starched and ironed shirt. lo n behold, an u-no-know-how-to-hide-am oil stain is there obviously smiling to everybody. Oh my God! i imagined all the well calculated sisi steps I have taken since alighting, haba! “which kind bus I enter today sef”?

How to Stop Biting Nails - Adults

How to Stop Biting Nails - Adults

image.jpegMillions of people around the world suffer from a self-mutilating and often painful addiction to biting their nails, which can be harder to quit than smoking cigarettes, but is often overlooked as a relatively benign habit.

And this is the greatest problem with treating nail biting in adults – the fact that it is done subconsciously, similarly to the way we breathe or scratch ourselves. However, there are a couple of tips that generally help adults to deal with nail biting:

  • Trim (and polish) your nails
This is a major way to stop nail biting. Trimming can be done and should be done by everybody, while nail polishing is applicable mainly for ladies over 12 or even older, though there are invisible nail polishes that can be applied by men as well. If your nails are trimmed, you will have less stuff for biting and unless you like the cuticles especially, you will simply be unable to bite your nails without biting the soft tissue under it. Since biting the soft tissue under the nail is very painful, chances are that even if you attempt to bite your nails, you will stop it immediately, at the first signs of pain.
Well, this might sound a little bit drastic, but unless you are masochistic enough, pain will remind you that you are doing something wrong. Also the sight of the perfectly-trimmed and cared of manicure reminds you that if you bite it, it is gone.

  • Stress and anxiety management.
If nail biting is your response to stress and anxiety, some stress management techniques help. One solution is to find another stress-reliever, preferably a healthy and nonirritating one – for instance drawing, writing and listening to music.

  • Keep your hands busy.
This also helps a lot, especially if you are biting your nails while doing something else – waiting or watching TV, for example. If you have a small ball to squeeze, or even a pen to draw meaningless lines, this will keep your hands occupied and your nails are not in such danger anymore.

  • Paint your nails with a bitter-tasting polish.
This is for the hard addicts. There are many special formulas on the market that are just for you – they look good, don't damage your nails but taste awfully. Unless you get used to the taste, or even start liking it, the awful taste will cool down your desire to bite your nails.

  • Chew gum or mints.
Even if your hands are free, when your mouth is busy chewing something else, most likely you will not chew your nails. This tip is especially useful.

The above listed tips for nail biting might not help everybody, especially those of you who have had this habit all their life. Giving up nail biting completely is very difficult but if you give up and don't keep trying, you might never be able to have healthy nail!

Slum community members say that Sangosanya is an inspiration to them and empowers children to pursue their dreams through education.

Sangosanya speaks about her life-changing experiences working in the slum and gathers monetary support as well as donations, like school supplies and clothing, from other stakeholders in nearby cities. She takes the children on field trips to experience life outside of their community and even organizes interactive activities with children from more affluent neighborhoods to promote social integration. She gives her time, money and care to the people in this impoverished region selflessly, gaining only appreciation and the lasting positive feeling of serving others.

LIVE FOR TODAY

As the day light shined through my window
I woke up with a smile on my face
It is a new day! In fact a gracious one! A stolen day from borrowed time
I live for today because of HIM! THE ALMIGHTY
I am thankful and grateful for my family, friends, and colleaguesGod has blesseme with.
I have decided to push away the pain, tears, bitterness, anger andletting them go
One cannot help but marvel at the intricate design of a single leaf,

or the roar of a great waterfall.
Even the buds that appear on the trees, the birds in the branches nest,
The Butterflies and bees
Waiting for flowers at their best.
Today, I will feel the nature: God’s Awesomeness!
Today, I shall live, making the best of everything because tomorrow might be too lat

WHAT DO YOU SHOP FOR?

10 MUST HAVE IN EVERY WOMAN 'S WARDROBE

Hey Everyone!

Standing in front of your wardrobe full of clothes yet you say, I don’t know what to wear. Trust me this happens to me every day. So today I felt inspired by "the essentials." "The essentials" include the articles that should be in every woman's wardrobe no matter who you are. Now don't get scared by this statement. I'm not going to tell you that you should have designer purses, shoes, and sunglasses (because let's be realistic... I have none of those)! These are just simple items that I think are the Nitti gritty to looking, feeling, and living fabulous!

Lets get started!

 1. Fitted Blazer-For professional or casual wear, a fitted blazer is a sophisticated, chic choice of clothing. Flattering for men and women, it looks great with dress trousers or skinny jeans, as well as skirts. Nothing brings a look together and polishes it off more than adding a blazer It can be stylish/business when it needs to be, but then you can also dress it down with a tee, skinny jeans and a pair of flats. Blazers, when tailored to your body type, can beexceedingly flattering and slimming to a woman's torso. Now that being said, you need to find a blazer that is right for your shape.

A little black dress is a wardrobe must for any woman. Find black dresses for women that are just right for those special occasions and the office. Choose long styles that are perfect for more formal occasions, or choose to shop for shorter dresses that work well on date night or even at work. There are so many uses for a black dress. Pair with pumps and bold necklaces to really get a fashionable look.
Black dresses for women are so versatile. A shorter style dress looks great at the office. When you need a break from pant suits and pencil skirts

2. Sexy Black Dress- A little black dress is a wardrobe must for any woman.

You always need an old reliable in your closet when nothing else seems to be working out in front of the ever dreaded full length mirror.

3. Skinny Jeans- Now I know some people have hang ups with skinny jeans, and I've been noticing that it tends to be older generations that frown upon them. I don't care if you are 50 or 15, skinny jeans are AMAZING! Again that being said, SHOP FOR YOUR BODY TYPE! I am not one to tell you that this style will fit you, and this one will fit you, etc. I just know that there aren't too many if any people I have ever seen not look hot damn in a pair of skinny jeans. Besides the slimming factor, my skinny jeans give me a beautiful nice long and lean leg to my petite form. I would be lying if I told you that the majority of pants that I wear aren't either skinny jeans or have the skinny fit to them. I just don't find too many other pants styles that fit and flatter me as well. Skinny jeans for women are pants that work just about anywhere. They are great for dressing up or down, for accessorizing and adding comfortable pants that look great with many outfits in your closet

4. Tank Top- A lot of you may be thinking, "why would I need that? It would look like I'm naked if I wore that in public!" you can rock tank tops with a cute waist coat or a nice jacket or you still where it underneath something.

5. A Bra and Panty That Makes You Feel Sexy- We women love to feel sexy. Celebrate your beautiful body and flaunt it with some sexy unmentionables. Wearing sensuous, pretty underwear can boost a woman’s confidence in her body ten-fold. The key to make the most of wearing sexy lingerie is to focus on a part of your body that is really great – and we all have at least one, Even if it is hidden under your suit, or a t shirt and jeans, you know that you are wearing .. And then so will other people!
6. An Interesting Scarf- Interesting scarfs are an "essential" that always gets noticed by everyone, and will usually be the first thing that someone compliments you on when they take in your entire outfit. Scarves add a point of interest and create a personality in an outfit that sometimes is lost when one isn't worn.

7. A Statement Necklace- This "essential" is very similar to the idea of having an interesting scarf in that it immediately draws the eye and creates a drama to your look that people take notice of. Jewelry in general makes a woman look put together and shows that she cares about her appearance. A bold statement necklace should always be paired with something simpler, because you don't want one item to out play the other. When donning a bold necklace, it is important to keep the rest of your look simple and sleek. Let the necklace make the statement.itdoesn't have to mean expensive either. Find what necklace fits your personality!

8. A Fun Pair of Heels- This one also follows the same guidelines of "why" as the two "essentials" above. I have a pair of shoes mixed with red, black and silver! It is one of my favorite! I wear on occasions and I absolutely love them! However, I love pairing these with a simpler outfit because I want the focus to be on my shoes, and I don't want people to be overwhelmed by my outfit. Heck's no! I want some amazing heels to wear!
9. Signature Nail Polish- Okay so I know that this isn't a clothing item per say, however, your nails become part of your wardrobe. Nails and nail polish are a personality piece that gets incorporated into your style and outfit when worn together. It also acts as a "polishing" (hehehehe) factor to your outfit in that you took the time to think of the TOTAL package. My signature color is blue! I experiment with a lot of different polishes, Add these to your fabulousity, it even makes it more better

10. Statement Hand Bag- And we round out our post today with the "essential" statement hand bag. Now, this is an area where I feel we should spend a lot more and I will opt for the brands or "designers" if you may, but don’t go into debt buying something like this. Find what fits your personality and what appeals to you in the phase of your life that you are in. It has to be easily reachable I mean to find my wallet and my Mobile phone. If you want to spend a little more money, than save and look for deals on the items you really want. That way you appreciate them so much more!

So, I hope I have been able to help when next you go shopping and you feel like something "essential" is missing in your wardrobe. These 10 items are all a matter of my own opinion, and there are probably a million other bloggers out there who would list different things. These are things that I am relating to my personal experience as well as watching and learning from others. I love the direction that my wardrobe has taken over the years, and it is much in part because of these "essential" items that I have. Statement pieces come and go, but the essential staples never change...

Hope you guys enjoyed my post today! Please follow my blog if you liked reading this post and you want to read more like it.
